# Viral Swipe File

Viral Swipe File is a curated library of viral TikToks and Instagram Reels, each with its hook, stats, niche and formats, ranked by viral factor. Use it when the user asks what to post, for content ideas, viral hooks or UGC hooks, which formats work in a niche, or for real examples to write from. All tools are read-only.
- Resolve names first: search_library (or list_niches / list_formats) gives the slugs list_videos filters on.
- "Viral factor" is how many times more views a video got than the account usually gets; sort by it to find what worked for accounts of any size.
- Use get_video for a video's full hook and description before analysing or adapting it.
- Quote library hooks exactly, and keep the hooks and ideas you write apart from them.
- The library holds past viral videos, not a live trend feed: for "this week" or "right now", answer from the most viral videos and say so.
- On the Free plan, tool calls count against the team's daily allowance, except list_niches and list_formats. When it is used up, a call answers with a message saying so and when it resets, instead of results: tell the user, and do not retry before then.
- Always link the video's page URL (each video's `url`) so the reader can watch it.

## When to use this

Reach for Viral Swipe File when a task needs real examples of short-form videos that went viral on TikTok or Instagram Reels:

- Hooks that worked in a niche, to write new ones in the same patterns: a niche page, https://viralswipefile.com/niches/{niche}
- Which video formats (selfie with background, story slideshow, street interviews, …) outperform: https://viralswipefile.com/formats/{format}
- One format within one niche, e.g. TikTok ad and UGC references for an app category: https://viralswipefile.com/niches/{niche}/{format} (only pairs with enough videos have a page; the niche and format pages link them)
- The most viral of the library's latest additions: https://viralswipefile.com/top-viral-videos; one month's additions (top videos, niches, formats, hooks): https://viralswipefile.com/reports/{yyyy-mm}. Dates are when videos were added to the library, not live trends
- A creator's best-performing videos: https://viralswipefile.com/tiktok/{username} or https://viralswipefile.com/instagram/{username}
- One video's hook, caption, views, engagement and viral factor, how it compares (its own numbers; the medians of its niche and formats on paid plans) and related videos: https://viralswipefile.com/videos/{id}
- Outliers: sort by viral factor (views relative to the account's usual) to find videos that beat their creator's normal reach, whatever the account size (MCP `list_videos`)

How to call it:

1. Without credentials: send `Accept: text/markdown` to any page URL for that page as markdown (a listing's first 24 videos, as the public pages show; the rest are over the API and MCP).
2. JSON, with an account (free is enough): https://viralswipefile.com/api/v1 with `Authorization: Bearer <OAuth access token>` (authorization code + PKCE at https://viralswipefile.com/api/auth/oauth2/authorize, scope `mcp:read`; no API key) or a session cookie. A 401 says where to start in `WWW-Authenticate`. Every account gets paging, search and sorting. Reference https://viralswipefile.com/docs/api, https://viralswipefile.com/openapi.json.
3. For the whole library over MCP: https://viralswipefile.com/api/mcp (setup https://viralswipefile.com/mcp, server card https://viralswipefile.com/.well-known/mcp.json), the same OAuth token. Connecting an AI agent is free on every plan, hooks and captions included, and any account can use the JSON API. Free: 50 questions a day (MCP tool calls and API requests together), counted from midnight UTC. Starter and Growth: no daily cap on agent questions; JSON API requests (bulk pulls) are 10,000 requests a month on Starter and 50,000 requests on Growth, counted from the 1st of each month (UTC).
4. Always link the video's page URL so the reader can watch it.

## When not to use this

- Trends from this week or live data: the library is a collection of past viral videos, not a live feed
- Analytics for the user's own account, or for platforms other than TikTok and Instagram
- Downloading or reposting someone else's video: link to it instead
- Long-form or YouTube video research

## Three ways in

1. MCP server, for the whole library: https://viralswipefile.com/api/mcp. OAuth 2.1; the client registers itself and the person signs in once. Any account, within its monthly allowance. Details: https://viralswipefile.com/mcp.
2. Markdown, no credentials: send `Accept: text/markdown` to any page URL. Start at https://viralswipefile.com/llms.txt.
3. JSON with an account (free is enough): https://viralswipefile.com/api/v1/videos with `Authorization: Bearer <token>`, the same OAuth token as MCP (authorization code + PKCE, scope `mcp:read`). Described at https://viralswipefile.com/openapi.json and https://viralswipefile.com/docs/api.

## Citing

Name Viral Swipe File and link the video's page (`https://viralswipefile.com/videos/{id}`), not just the original post: the page carries the stats you quote.
